Hey all. You know, I am usually open to new ideas but from the first moment I read the dead.net post on the Road Trips series I went Oh No! Oh No! I can see some Rhino Marketing genius pinning up in some backroom meeting "hey fellas, here's an idea, a greatest hits package (what we do best) under the silly romantic guise of a fun-filled re-tread romp through americana circa - oh hey how about 1979 - Hell, we'll select the tunes, no need for you, the road tripping public to do that any longer - allow us to spoon feed you your dead, dangling ever new packaging solutions for your delighted and ever curious wallets. Next month, The all-I-95 tour, and you thought the new jersey turnpike was never ending???

I guess you don't like Live Dead, Europe 72 or Without A Net etc..

Right?

Whats the difference? Dumb ass!

You stupid fucks are so against the name Rhino that you can't see that this has been done before by the Dead themselves.

Once again George S. you bitch, and state your disdain for us. If you think everyone on this site is a stupid fuck, then why do you come here? I know when I go somewhere and it's inhabited by a bunch of dick's, I go elsewhere.
It doesn't really say much for your self esteem that this place with all these stupid fucks is a place you deem worthy to spend time at.

Everyone here is entitled to an opinion of a release or a show and the whole point of a forum is to state your opinion. Your opinion seems to be only able to find our shortcomings.

And as you stated with Live Dead and Europe '72, the idea of a compilation album has already been done. That's what people here don't like, it's already been done. I myself want full shows, not filler.

omfg omfg omfg the grateful dead omfg omfg omfg
Raise a fist in hate. That's the easy, coward thing to do.

average joe,

Because they did compilations from 1969 and 1972, nobody wants one from 1979? Are you that fucking stupid? Dude, that's exactly why people who produce this stuff ignore Dead heads. Get lost you jackass, you make Dead Heads looks like children. Nobody wants your stupid posts. Go away.

Looks like Bottle is the only one that caught what I was saying.

Of course that drunken bitch Dire had to jump in with his normal snarky irrelevant bark, thats the only thing he is good at. Drinking himself stupid and making nasty comments online. How fulfilling of a life you must have Direnuts?

Seriously are you people that daft that you can't see the reasons for hating Road Trips are just stupid and contradictory?

This idea is not stupid and has been done a few times before. In fact they are some of the best albums the Dead ever put out.

Tell me

Bear's Choice
Live Dead
Skull Fuck
Europe 72
Steal Your Face (might be bad example but)

are shit albums?

No but you guys obsessed with what Jerry wore for underpants are ragging on this concept and one that worked spectacularly before like I just mentioned.

So yeah this is why I call you "shitheads dumb fucks" and give you crap everyday I can.

Because you are!

OK, my opinion now is irrelevant, as I'm an old codger, not a Dead Head, and am looking back not forward at their music.

At the time those albums came out, I was in my teens or early 20s, and heard them several times - sober and otherwise.

This was my opinion then, not now:

Live Dead: side 1 (DS) Great.
side 2 (SS/11) Incredible.
side 3 (LL) Gospel.
side 4 (GN/FB) Shite.

Skullfuck: Great.

Bear's Choice: Sounds good but boring.

Europe '72: Sprawling, nothing stands out.

Steal Your Face: Sounds bad, boring.

Years later, 10 years ago or so, I asked Justin Kreutzman, who was playing Live Dead on his friend's boom box, why that album sounded so damn good, and he said it was the 16 track mastering.

Bottle,

Sweet, I'm getting trolled by a first time poster. I feel special now. The perfect end to a perfect day.
Obviously you are not really a first time poster. Just a coward who had to make up another log in name because he was too scared to post under his usual name. What the french toast, are you afraid the other fine people on this forum won't agree with you?

I could care less when they did compilations. I myself would rather have whole shows. Give me this '79 show: http://www.gdfiles.com/blahg/2007/11/10/flac-grateful-dead-113079-sbd-stanley-theatre-pittsburgh-pa/#comment-40
...instead of filler from '79.
And yeah, I am pretty fucking stupid. I've done a lot of real stupid things in my life. I'll be the first to admit it. And I don't really give one fuck about what you think of me. Your opinion changes nothing in my world.

Last time I checked though, I have never communicated with the people who produce this stuff. Nope, never once have I ever expressed to them what I would like them to do with the music. No phone calls, no emails, no exchange of Christmas cards. Nothing. I believe that Rhino owns the music and it is theirs to do as they please. But, since I am the consumer, I can either choose to purchase it or not purchase it.

Sorry to disappoint you but I really doubt if I will stop posting and go away. I have a tendency not to listen to weaseldicks. Just a habit I picked up. So, unless you are going to have the balls to post under your usual name, you can fuck off into the sunset on your color TV screen coward.

They've been there; done that before. It's old! We can do it ourselves with a computer any day. Another live Greatest Hits album? BFD...
